FINAL PROJECT CONCEPT IDEA

I struggled greatly to find a project to work on this semester. I felt like I needed to choose a project that would begin to shape my career. That was extremely overwhelming, so instead, I started to think of projects I wanted to work on.

My dream job has always been to design theme parks. I have always had a weird quirk when I am watching a tv show or movie, reading a book or even listening to a song, I find myself drawing up plans to a theme park in my head, with detailed rides, shows, even dining and retail options. I can't help it, I love the thought of making somebody feel fully immersed in content.

For my project, I plan to explore this captivating, multi-sensory experience.

I wanted to pick apart why I loved these experiences and figure out ways to blend them with emerging technology. I went deeper into two ideas, but still have exploring to do.

I ended up toying with the idea of making immersive reading or TV /movie experiences. I love the quote, "Reading is meditation through somebody else's mind." The idea of enhancing that is very intriguing.

I also thought about as well as rethinking theme parks and creating dynamic rides that change with society and pop culture.

Some other random ideas:

• A Retail Experience

• Education

• Some sort of immersive pod or nook

• A ride that is designed for social impact- either showing what disability, metal illness, etc is like, or something like global warming

Overall, I am satisfied with the potential this concept offers. It blends my interests in creating an exhibit, emerging technology, pop culture, and multi sensory inclusive design.
